Lots of activity these past few weeks across a range of global initiatives to end #EconomicAbuse. It was such a privilege to chair the inaugural meeting of the ICAEA steering group on Monday. We've made such great progress in such a short space of time and are looking forward to growing our membership so that it is truly international. I've also enjoyed conversations with the IFC - International Finance Corporation ahead of the kick off meeting of the Empower Finance Programme as well as catch-ups with partners in New Zealand, Australia and the Netherlands. Such momentum!

When I signed this statement it felt - in the big scheme of things - like the smallest of acts. Yet that I feel safe to publicly share that my name is on this list when others can’t due to the risk of racist violence against then reminds me, once again, of my privilege. There is power in collective solidarity.https://lnkd.in/ePzY_Rfg

Huge thanks to Bobbi Gray - her passion to explore the concept of economic abuse made this webinar happen. I am learning so much from her, Sarah Twigg and #FinEquity members. Check out the recording chaired by Aude de Montesquiou supported by Swati Mehta Dhawan, PhD.

This overview of published research on the sexual abuse of African, Asian & Caribbean heritage children by the wonderful Sukhwant Dhaliwal published yesterday identifies knowledge gaps and makes recommendations for research and activity to address them. So pleased my doctorate research findings could contribute.

As Keir Starmer appoints his cabinet, I’m thinking back to the Pro Bono Economic Labour & Civil Society Summit which I attended earlier this year. He delivered a keynote to charity sector leaders, setting out how his vision for how government would work with charities and asking us to work with him to achieve a ‘society of service’. Here’s hoping that this vision is realised.

I really enjoyed last week’s Westminster Insight conference and was delighted to have been described as a ‘standout’ speaker within the delegate feedback. In this interview, which took place alongside the event, I share my thoughts on the impact of #EconomicAbuse, support for survivors, evolving trends and necessary policy changes.

Today marks the end of #ScoliosisAwarenessMonth. My own experience of scoliosis - as told to the brilliant Marisa Bate - shaped my career choices and led me to identify my purpose and develop my passion: working to end #EconomicAbuse.I’ll never be able to thank the surgeons and nurses at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) NHS Trust enough. If you are in a position to donate to the RNOH Charity or could hold a #ButtercupBreaktime in July to raise funds for them I’d urge you to do so.

Following my presentation yesterday on the need to raise awareness of #DomesticAbuse towards older women I've joined Hourglass in taking the OATH - a pledge to commit to take action against the abuse, harm, exploitation and neglect of older people so that we see a #SaferAgeingSociety by 2050.https://lnkd.in/ewJJpFDi

Before I went on leave last week, I was delighted to take part in this webinar for employers on supporting employees experiencing domestic abuse. I shared signs which might indicate control through #EconomicAbuse and measures that can be taken by employers to support their employees' economic safety.
